The Dreaded Diet Cycle…..

If you are like most people, you’ve struggled with your weight at one time or another. You’ve
been on every fad diet. Initially you lose some weight, but then you gain it back and find
yourself heavier than before. This is the dreaded cycle of yo-yo dieting.
Yes, in the short term you can lose the weight, but every time you do this you may be doing more
damage than good because your body thinks it’s experiencing a “famine.” In response to that
famine, your body goes into survival mode and conserves energy by slowing down your metabolism.
Your body does its best to hold on to the fat you have for as long as it can. So, with many diets
the weight you initially lose is not from just fat, but muscle, too. And that loss of muscle slows
down your metabolism even further because muscle burns calories. Muscle = Metabolism.
There are also common challenges—emotional and other physical ones that come along with
dieting. Many diets are too restrictive or monotonous, or leave you feeling deprived and don’t
teach you how to permanently change your eating and exercise habits. They leave you feeling
hungry, tired, and craving the foods you miss most. You’ve about had it, so you return to your old
eating habits and gain the weight back. And the sad part is, the weight you put back on is fat weight.
How Cinch Works………

Network Marketing Opportunities for the Ecopreneur

Network Marketing Opportunities for the Ecopreneur Posted By : Helen Walker.

Whatever your interest, a business opportunity exists for the eco-friendly entrepreneur. From skin care to solar power, there are multiple network marketing companies that allow you to make a difference while making a living. The term “ecopreneur” has been trademarked by Ecopreneur, LLC, and is a blend of the words ecological and entrepreneur. According to Wise Geek, ?an Ecoprenuer® is an entrepreneur who is focused on ecologically-friendly issues and causes, attempting to do business in a way which benefits the environment.? This term encompasses a whole host of individuals, but perhaps no one is a better example than the independent business owner. The network marketing industry (encompassing multi-level marketing and direct selling) has plenty of opportunities available for those wanting ?go green? while making the green. The personal care industry is a popular one, dominated by two giants: Shaklee Corporation and Melaleuca Inc. Founded in 1956 by Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee, Shaklee Corporation is an network marketing company with over 750,000 members. Shaklee both produces and sells environmentally-friendly nutritional supplements, skin care products, and cleaning supplies. As early as the 1960?s Shaklee produced one of the first-ever biodegradable household cleaners, and was the first company in the world to obtain Climate Neutral certification and totally offset their CO2 emissions. Melaleuca is a $780 million dollar nutritional, cosmetics, and personal care company. They were founded in 1984 and have enjoyed twenty-three years of consecutive growth since then. This eco-friendly company promotes a healthy lifestyle through its products?many that still boast benefits from the melaleuca plant extract and numerous that are certified organic. If you are looking for a green MLM business opportunity outside the personal care industry you might consider focusing your energy on, well, energy. Energy is a trillion dollar industry, and some notable companies are capitalizing on a resource that everyone needs: Citizenre has launched its REnU program that promotes renewable energy by offering solar power to consumers via rentable solar panels. The Citizen Corporation owns and operates the equipment, and will install and maintain it at no charge. A customer simply pays a flat rental fee per month, locked in at a long-term rate. Associates receive bonuses for customers that sign long-term contracts and residual income from the monthly rent payments. In deregulated states like Texas, New York and Illinois, customers have a choice in their energy provider. Ambit Energy?s goal is to be ?the finest and most respected residential energy provider in the United States.? The company’s Ambit Certified Green plans are certified by the Green-e Program to reduce the environmental impact of the energy used by Ambit Energy customers. In addition to providing low-cost energy, Ambit has a substantial rewards program. Independent consultants can create a significant income by increasing Ambit?s customer base. Being an ecopreneur is rewarding in many ways. Top Ambit leader Brian McClure says, ?I have not only achieved financial independence as an Ambit consultant, but the tremendous satisfaction of knowing I work for a company that offers consumers a lower energy bill and contributes to the environment in a positive way.? Whatever your interest, there are some great opportunities out there for the eco-friendly entrepreneur. From skin care to solar power, there are multiple network marketing companies that allow you to make a difference while making a living.

Omega Guard your Heart

December 8th, 2008

OmegaGuard™

According to the Centers for Disease Control and the American Heart Association (AHA),
heart disease — specifically coronary artery disease — is still the number one cause of death of
men and women in the United States. And while it was once considered a man’s disease, today
more women than men die from heart disease. And unfortunately, at least 100 million Americans
have one or more risk factors for heart disease.
To reduce the risk of heart disease, the AHA recommends eating two servings of fish rich in
omega-3 fatty acids each week. But most Americans eat fish only three times per month or less.
Moreover, there are growing concerns about unsafe levels of contaminants such as mercury and
lead that are now commonly found in many fish.
Ultra-pure OmegaGuard, the world’s finest fish oil that delivers a full spectrum of seven
omega-3s including EPA, DHA, ALA, and more.
• Research shows that high levels of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may:
- Help reduce the risk of heart disease†3
- Help retain healthy triglyceride levels*5
- Help retain normal blood pressure*4
- Support brain2, visual1, and joint function*6
• Over 4,500 research studies on omega-3 fatty acids’ effects on overall health have been
conducted in the last 25 years.
• The average American intake of EPA and DHA is only 0.1 to 0.2 g/day, even though the
American Heart Association recommends at least two fish meals per week to provide an
intake of about 0.3 to 0.5 g/day of EPA and DHA.
• Most American diets provide more than ten times as much omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids,
even though there is general scientific agreement that individuals should consume more
omega-3 and less omega-6 fatty acids to promote good health.
Research shows that high levels of omega-3 fatty acids promote cardiovascular health and help
retain normal blood pressure and triglyceride levels.*
† Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA fatty acids
may reduce the risk of heart disease.

Bladder Infections……..

November 22nd, 2008

Bladder Infections

From bobsfiles.net.. experience, research and opinion on this particular subject…

Bladder infections are a sign of yeast, and HPV. Optiflora is important, and staying away from sugar and sweets. You can be DNA tested for HPV. I had it, and ended up with endocervical cancer, and didn’t have any signs of HPV except I learned from Alotek.com that HPV is implicated in recurrent bladder infectiions. The doctor behind Alotek uses aloe vera tablets orally and inserted vaginally to help the immune system detect HPV and control or eliminate it. He helps 90+% of women that come to his site, even those w/ bad pap smears.

Dr. Brouse talks about yeast or Candida, and has good advice for what Shaklee supplements to take.

Be sure to take Carotomax, which is in Vitalizer, as women who do get cervical cancer are often low in betacarotene. DRINK LOTS OF PURE WATER. If you are not too acidic, you can also take cranberry capsules. For me, the acid made mucous in my intestinal tract, and set me up for UTI’s after any sexual activity. Now being older, extreme stress and not enough water can bring one on. I have a friend who has never used an antibiotic for a Urinary Tract Infection. She drinks a glass of water every 10 min. for the first hour to flush it out. Also, you can drink Marshmallow tea for the pain. I found it as loose herb tea in a box. and for me, it is much more effective than that drug Pyridium? that turns the urine orange. Also there is a product called Cystex, that can kill the UTI bacteria and help eliminate the pain if taken quickly enough. Again, flush with water.  Cranberry capsules can be taken for a preventative for young and old, as they have a substance that doesn’t allow the e coli bacteria (usually the one) to adhere to the bladder wall.

DMannose is another supplement prescribed by the Naturopathic community. You can Google it.

Recurrent bladder infections are a sign of immune system faltering. Vivix (visit:www.keytoantiaging.info)and Nutriferon (www.keystonaturalhealth.com), Vitamin C and garlic are all helpful. Enzymes like Candex (bought online), EzGest, even Papaya enzymes w/ chlorophyll can break down the protein walls of the yeast, without allowing the release of mycotoxins as the yeast dies. You need fiber to move dead yeast through and out. B Complex is important, and helps manage stress.

For UTI’s or bladder infections: No coffee, caffeine drinks, etc. And Splenda is causing bladder damage and incontinence for some. Beware.

GreenFest: The Secrets to Getting Others to Change
Posted by E.B. Boyd on November 18, 2008 - 12:14am.

LIME reports from the Green Festival, held in San Francisco, Nov. 14-16, 2008

Ever wish you could wave a wand and all those people who aren’t doing much for the environment would magically start recycling, biking, and buying organic food?

Unfortunately, people don’t change that way, John Adams told Green Fest-goers, in a talk entitled “Transforming Business from the Inside Out.” Adams is a Saybrook Graduate School professor of organizational systems who’s studied the “mental aspects” of change and transformational work. Making a paradigm shift — changing from one way of thinking and being to another — requires a person to go through a series of stages, Adams said. Each stage has specific feelings and attitudes attached. Reaching a person and helping them move in the right direction requires first understanding what stage they’re in, and then using the right approach for that stage.

First Stage: Lack of Awareness. The person simply doesn’t realize there’s a problem. Action to take: Educate them to help them understand the nature of the problem.

Second Stage: Denial. At this point the person is aware of the problem but thinks it’s someone else’s problem. Action to take: Help them take one small, attainable action to see they can be part of fixing the problem.

Third Stage: Anger or Depression. The person is aware of the problem and accepts that they have a role in it, but they’re overwhelmed. Action to take: Again, help them take small steps that have some impact. These build confidence that bigger change is possible.

Fourth Stage: Letting Go. The person is letting go of their old ways of being and thinking. Action to take: At this point, the person is ready to take bigger steps. Give them more ideas for things they can do.

Fifth Stage: Broader Understanding. The person is getting excited about the possibility for change. Action to take: People at this stage love to spread the word. Get them involved in mentoring or educating others, or even leading specific projects.

Sixth Stage: Common Sense. At this point, the thing that seemed so baffling at the beginning is taken at a given. In San Francisco, for example, no one thinks twice about recycling. We all do it as automatically as we take out our regular trash. Action to take: No need for action anymore. The person gets it and is taking the right action automatically.

Many people are somewhere in the middle stages when it comes to global warming and environmental issues. “Al Gore brought a tipping point in awareness with An Inconvenient Truth,” said Adams, who recently published a book called Thinking Today as if Tomorrow Mattered: The Rise of a Sustainable Consciousness. “But we still have yet to reach a tipping point in action.”

Five tips to retaining a normal blood sugar level

November 17th, 2008

Five tips to retaining a normal blood sugar level

1) Achieve a healthy weight

In a properly functioning body, insulin, a hormone made by your pancreas, helps transport glucose into the cells of the body so it can be use for energy. However, in overweight individuals, cells of the body can become resistant to insulin’s action. One of the best ways to retain normal blood sugar levels is to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. (visit:www.keystonaturalhealth.com)

2) Eat foods with a low glycemic index

When you’re constantly on the run, it’s easy to forget about giving your body the proper nutrition it needs. You may find yourself reaching for a bag of cookies, which most likely have a high glycemic index (GI), meaning the carbohydrates in those cookies are quickly broken down to glucose and released into the bloodstream. This quick release can then lead to a sharp rise in blood sugar, followed by a sharp drop in blood sugar leaving you with feelings of low energy. Help retain normal blood sugar levels by eating foods that have a low GI.

3) Enhance your health

So, you’re at a healthy weight and your blood sugar is where you want it to be. What else? How about the health of your heart, brain, digestive system, and other body parts? Keep the healthy momentum going and remember to take your vitamins and minerals on a daily basis. Natural supplements are  the perfect supplement for daily nutritional, immunity, protect your DNA, and help manage your stress.

4) Additional botanical support

Certain minerals and botanicals have been scientifically shown to help retain normal blood sugar levels. These include banaba leaf extract, which helps stimulate glucose uptake, and chromium, a mineral essential to insulin function.

5) Stay active

Last, but not least, stay active. Try to get in 30 minutes of regular physical activity, such as brisk walking, bicycling or swimming most days of the week. If your busy schedule won?t allow that, break your activity into sessions?10 minutes in the morning, 10 in the afternoon, and a short 10 minute walk in the evening. Being more active will not only make you feel good, it will enhance your body?s ability to use insulin and help you maintain a healthy weight.

Phobic about Washing Your Hands or Should You Be?

November 17th, 2008

Phobic about Washing Your Hands or Should You Be?

original posted by Tana Hamiter

Why is hand washing so important anyway? My great grandmother used to say “you’ll eat a peck of dirt before you die” which I took to mean, relax and don’t become phobic about the kids getting dirty. Yet before every meal, it was “have you washed your hands yet”?

“Good hand washing is your first line of defense against the spread of many illnesses - and not just the common cold. More serious illnesses such as meningitis, bronchiolitis, influenza, hepatitis A, and most types of infectious diarrhea can be stopped with the simple act of washing your hands.” According to Mary L. Gavin, MD.

Non toxic cleaning supplies for home, kitchen and laundry and Gentle Hand Soap are always wise. Use a 1/4 oz pump dispensor or 1/2 oz pump dispensor as this is supper concentrated. As they say, “a little dab will do ya”. And I do mean a little dab! Save lots of money due to the high concentration. I love the cute hand soap dispencer at each sink.

Natural Immune-strengthening Supplements are a must around our home. Of course this is in addition to daily healthy eating patterns including organic produce: milks, eggs and meat choices whenever possible. Natural Nutritional Supplements are needed to fill the gap and optimize health. Because of the way our foods are grown; transported long distances, processed and then often not cooked in the best way possible at home to maximize nutrition. It just makes good old common sense to add extra Nutritional Supplements during times of stress or to ward of immune challenges. Try Emergency Immune Protection . Suggest at onset and for no more than 7 days, read the lable. I continue with the Natural Immune-strengthing Supplements during cold and flu season or if for some reason I’m feeling out of sorts.

For children it is a good idea to demonstrate and make a routine of handwashing. It’s important so make it FUN! Smiley faces or stars on a chart with a reward (NOT food) for remembering. It helped with my young ones until it was a solid habit.

Warm water is important and using a good natural soap helps. Teach everyone in the family to lather up for 10 to 15 seconds and don’t forget in-between the fingers the wrists. There have been many studies where it showed that under the finger nails is very important. Rinse and dry with a clean towel or with an air blower when possiable.

To minimize the germs passed around your family, make frequent hand washing a rule for everyone, especially:
“before eating and cooking
after using the bathroom
after cleaning around the house
after touching animals, including family pets

Also remember:
before and after visiting or taking care of any sick friends or relatives after blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing
after being outside (playing, gardening, walking the dog, etc.)

“Don’t underestimate the power of hand washing! “ -Mary L Gavin, MD on hand washing

Environment and Health - It all goes together. People who are concerned about the environment and what they can do to be a part of the solution are people who usually are health conscious as well.

Cold and Flu season … sniff & sneeze …. Runny noses abound, children missing school, people either not going to work or going and spreading the ‘love’ around. Yep, it’s that time of year again. So what is a person to do? WASH YOUR HANDS and make sure your natural vitamins and supplement plan is up to date for the family. Re start your immune boosters as needed.

Everything is Guaranteed so you’ve nothing to lose and much to gain. Need ideas or support on this type of change? Feel free to visit www.keystonaturalhealth.com.
